For almost 120 years, the Humane Society of New York (HSNY) has advocated for the health and wellbeing of cats, dogs, and other animals. The Society first came together as a private organization with the goal of stopping the abuse of horses in New York City, but it soon blossomed into a nonprofit that catered to the needs of the c ity’s sick, injured, and homeless pets.
