Aug 19, 2017 · Knocking in dashboard on passenger side. I have a 2012 Chevy impala. When I open any of the four doors or unlock the doors with the remote there is a knocking noise in the dashboard on the passenger side. Even with no key in the ignition AC turn off fans are turned off it continues to knock. I can walk away from the car and it is still knocking. The passengers temp door actuator is located towards the center of the dash and the recir door located at the outer side of the dash. Put you hand on the actuators when they are making the noise and you can feel which actuator is bad. Replace that actuator by removing the screws (2) that hold it on.
