The blacks are washed, you can sometimes see the blocks on the image. But they are convienet because they come around 3-4Gb per release. A good quality 720p is typically 5-7Gb and a 1080p release is 10+Gb.

A device that's trying to split duties is almost always going to be lacking in one area or the other.
